Doesn't always work too well

Chromecast can cast certain programmes and applications from computers and smart devices. It operates on the UPC212058(B) network in 278 and your device must be on this network also. To download the Chromecast extension for your laptop, go to chromecast.com/setup/ and click the lower grey button to install.

For iOS devices (iPads, iPhones, etc) and android devices, please go to your app store and search for "Chromecast"

Once installed, a small square icon with a wifi fan in the corner will appear on your device when a compatible application is open. Click this and cast to the Chromecast device called

Hermes
*Kudos to all those who got the geeky classical reference joke!

The Chromecast can cast from the following:

Chrome Browser (on either Windows of Mac)

  • Tabs from laptops (as well as full screen)
  • Netflix
  • YouTube

iPhones / iPads / Android devices

  • Netflix
  • Youtube
  • Other supported apps

XBOX

Source - HDMI 2

XBOX controllers are above the XBOX. Both are charged and wireless. The XBOX has a wireless adapters. If the batteries run out, they can be replaced with AA batteries (kept above the washing machine in the kitchen), normally the stronger type batteries (eg. ultra, super powered, etc) batteries are best and last longest.

To play DVDs on the XBOX;

  • Turn on XBOX by pressing the round silver button in the centre of either of the controllers or the big button to the right of the console.
  • Press the eject button to the left of the silver DVD tray in the console.
  • Insert Disk
  • Sign into guest account if requested
  • Press Green "A" button on controller to select "Play DVD"
  • Use any of the directional Grey toggles to Highlight the option you want and click "A" to select it
  • The left joystick on the controller controls the left / right / up / down motion of the menus
  • The joystick will turn itself off after a certain amount of time, so the silver button in the centre will turn it back on without turning the console off

Once the DVD starts playing

  • During playing of the movie, Press "A" to bring up the options menu
  • The cogs on the far right side of the menu will give you further options such as subtitles and audio options
  • Press "B" to get rid of the options again

To turn off the XBOX, Press and hold the Silver centre button on the controller until options appear and select "Turn off Console". This will turn off both the console and the controller(s).
